About Me
I am an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Mississippi State University.
I received my undergraduate degree in mathematics (with a double major in Political Science/History) from King University in Bristol, Tennessee. While there, I was the recipient of the 2017 Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award. After graduation, I went on to receive my PhD in Political Science from the School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Georgia.
Prior to moving to Mississippi, I spent several years in Spokane, Washington as an Assistant Professor at Whitworth University. In 2024, I was awarded Whitworth's Provost's Junior Faculty Award, given for "making significant contributions to the university in the classroom, in academic programs (e.g., curriculum development), and through scholarship and service." In that same year, I was also the recipient of King University's Young Alumni Achievement Award. While at Whitworth, I also served as the university's Head Delegate to the United Nations (UNFCCC) annual Climate Change conferences, leading delegations to both Dubai (COP28) and Baku (COP 29).
In my free time, I am an avid reader, as well as an avid adventurer and outdoorsman. I enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, running, and exploring state and federally-owned public lands. Also, I am very passionate about the environment, environmental policy, the role of environmental policy in elections, and land conservation.
